Alcohol in tinctures

Extraction solvent

Alcohol and water are commonly used together to extract selected plant constituents and to help preserve a tincture.

In the formula

The solvent is part of the formulation, not just a detail of manufacture. If alcohol is unsuitable for you, check the product before choosing it.

A note on use

Adding a tincture to a hot drink should not be assumed to remove all of its alcohol.
