Carrot sweetness, juicy orange and a little fresh ginger, lifted with lemon. A vivid orange drink that is simple to make and lovely served cold.
Made with fresh fruit, vegetables and cold water. The blender method keeps the pulp if you leave it unstrained; the juicer option gives a lighter finish. Choose the texture you enjoy.

Golden Sunshine Carrot, Orange & Ginger Juice

You’ll need: a blender, chopping board, knife, measuring jug and optional fine sieve. The main method makes two small glasses; volume varies with the produce and added water.
Ingredients
- 150 g carrots, trimmed and scrubbed (about 2 medium)
- 200 g peeled orange flesh, pips removed (about 2 small oranges)
- 15 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 tbsp)
- 5 g fresh ginger, peeled
- 150 ml cold water, plus a splash if needed
- Ice, to serve (optional)
Blender method
-
Wash and prepare
Wash the produce thoroughly. Scrub or peel the carrots and cut into small pieces. Peel the oranges, remove any pips and divide into segments. Peel and finely slice the ginger.
-
Blend until smooth
Add the water, orange, lemon juice, carrot and ginger to a high-speed blender. Secure the lid and blend for 60–90 seconds, or until as smooth as your machine allows. Pause and scrape down safely if needed; add a splash more water to help it turn.
-
Choose your texture
For a drink with the pulp retained, leave it as blended. For a smoother, more juice-like finish, pour through a fine sieve into a jug and press gently with a clean spoon. Straining removes some of the fibre and changes the nutrition estimate.
-
Pour and enjoy
Stir, divide the whole batch equally between two small glasses and serve straight away, with ice if you like. Start with the measured ginger; add a little more next time if you prefer a stronger kick.
Using a juicer?
Use the same prepared produce without the 150 ml blending water. Feed the carrots, orange and ginger through your juicer as its instructions allow, then stir in the lemon juice. Dilute to taste if you like. Juice yield depends on the machine and produce; divide the batch into two portions.

A few little details
Make it just how you like it.
Balance the citrus
Choose ripe oranges. If they are especially tart, use a little less lemon rather than adding a sweetener.
A softer ginger finish
Five grams gives a gentle warmth across two glasses. Finely slice it for the blender so there are fewer stringy pieces.
Keep the colour bright
Serve in clear glasses with a small orange wedge if you have one. Stir just before pouring; natural separation is normal.
Keep it fresh
Best made and enjoyed straight away. If saving a portion, refrigerate promptly in a clean sealed container at 5°C or below and use within 24 hours. Stir or shake before drinking. Homemade juice is unpasteurised.
Ingredient notes
Check all ingredients for individual allergies. Wash produce well, use clean equipment and follow your blender or juicer instructions. Keep peels, apple pips and cores out of the drink. No dairy, eggs or added sweeteners are needed.
Cuisine & estimated energy
Cuisine: International. Approximately 65 kcal per serving. One serving is half of the whole unstrained blender batch.
Approximate energy for half of the complete, unstrained blender batch, with water only and no optional garnishes. Calculated from CoFID 2021 generic produce values and rounded to the nearest 5 kcal. Straining or juicing removes pulp, so the calorie figure does not apply unchanged to those versions.
Source: CoFID 2021 food composition data. Juicer extraction varies; no fibre or calorie equivalence is claimed for strained versions.

Your questions, answered
Do I need a juicer?
No. The main recipe uses a blender and cold water. A high-speed blender handles the raw produce most smoothly. There is also a separate juicer method.
Can I keep the pulp?
Yes. The unstrained blender version keeps the pulp in the glass. Straining gives a lighter texture but removes some of the fibre. The calorie estimate applies to half of the unstrained batch.
Can I make it ahead?
Best made and enjoyed straight away. If saving a portion, refrigerate promptly in a clean sealed container at 5°C or below and use within 24 hours. Stir or shake before drinking. Homemade juice is unpasteurised.
Does it need sugar or supplements?
No. The fruit provides the sweetness and the recipe works without added sweeteners or specialist products. We have kept this collection focused on fresh produce.
